Your child’s birthday party is one that you want them to remember for a lifetime. Because of this, children's party themes for birthdays are becoming a very popular way to throw a wonderful birthday party with kids costumes, decorations, food, games and more. Birthday party ideas are easy to come up with by using your imagination along with your child’s likings.
One wonderful idea for a great birthday party for your child is a Storybook or Fairytale birthday party theme. You can use one of your kids favorite fairy tales for this party and create some amazing invitations by using some construction paper and folding it in half and writing the title of the story on the front of the cover and on the inside all the arrangements for your party. You and your child together can color the book cover using illustrations. Next, staple the inside pages and send it off to invitees to the party.
For decorations for the party, use story books you have and set them out all around the house along with animals, figurines, and any type of items you have that relate to any of the stories or fairy tales. Taking some pictures of favorite book covers and making some place mats by laminating the pictures is a wonderful idea for a table setting. Have some party balloons of animals or characters in the storybooks around the room that the party will be held in.
You can ask your guests to come dressed in storybook costumes that are a favorite of their own or have on hand some fun accessories that the children can dress up in when they arrive at the party. Some pig snouts and wolf tails or ears are great to use for the Three Little Pigs story. Red hoods and red riding hood baskets and wolf ears or tails would be fun for the Little Red Riding Hood story. A witch broom or a princess crown can be used for the Cinderella story and so on.
Playing games during the party that associate with the theme are fun for kids. For instance you can hide some little stuffed pigs or plastic piggy banks and pretend that the children have to find the three little pigs before the big bad wolf comes. You can have a scavenger hunt to have everyone find some of the items in one of your stories like for the Three Little Pigs you can have them find a brick, or a piece of wood, or things of this nature regarding the pigs houses. Have a parent hosting the party dress up as a story book character and gather all the children in a circle and read that particular story to the children.
For food you can have a cake made that has a story book cover on the front of the cake. Prepare a basket like the one that Little Red Riding Hood had and fill it with all sorts of treats and sweets. For a take home gift, have a special story book for each child to take home.
