Mary Poppins costumes

Mary Poppins is one of the most beloved literary characters in history! This lovely lady first appeared in the eponymous book series by P. L. Travers, which was released between 1934 and 1988. She also had a huge surge of fame and popularity in the mid-1960's with the release of the Disney film adaptation of Mary Poppins. Although P. L. Travers herself disapproved of the movie, it was a massive international success, and continues its popularity to this day.

The story of Mary Poppins revolves around the titular character, a nanny who travels with the help of the wind and her magical umbrella. When the Banks family's nanny quits in a huff, Mary Poppins arrives and takes charge of the children, and despite the fact that she is stern, vain, and cross, the children soon realise that she is also magical herself. Together, Mary and the children go on many wonderful adventures including a tea party on the ceiling, a trip around the world with the help of a special compass, and a birthday party at the zoo, all the while learning important lessons along the way.

If you or your child wants to dress up as Mary Poppins for Book Week this year, then you've come to the right place! Women and girls will just love these costumes, and they're also great for birthday fancy dress parties or even Halloween!
