Book Week Costumes

Book Week is a fantastic time in Australian schools. Book Week is all about celebrating books and reading, and schools often include dress up days where students and teachers come in costume as their favourite book characters.

When is Book Week 2019?

Book Week 2019 is held from Saturday, August 17th to Friday, August 23rd. This year the Children's Book Council Australia have chosen the theme "Reading is My Secret Power". Book Week in Australia celebrates authors and illustrators of books that have had a great academic impact on children and young adults. Every year since 1945, Australia has held a festival celebrating Australian authors and their books. The entire community comes together to honour Australian authors and illustrators with a nationwide Book Week. Children in schools learn about these Australian authors and illustrators and are introduced to their books in hopes of instilling the importance of reading.
